Why this happens

How to fix it — step by step

  1. 1. Check what speed you actually use

Run a speed test at peak time. If you're on a 250 Mbps plan but only ever hitting 50 Mbps, you can save by stepping down.

  2. 2. Call your ISP and ask

ISPs often have retention deals not advertised publicly. Simply calling and saying you're considering leaving can unlock a discount or plan change.

  3. 3. Remove add-ons

Check your account for extras — static IPs, tech support bundles, Wi-Fi mesh subscriptions. Remove anything you don't actively use.

  4. 4. Compare the market

Use a comparison site or check ISP websites directly. Prices shift frequently — what was expensive 12 months ago may have been undercut.

  5. 5. Switch ISPs

Switching NBN providers takes 2-5 business days and your connection doesn't go dark. There's no line cancellation involved — only your RSP account changes.

Still having trouble?
